Within the basic areas of chemical technology and environmental protection, research in the Group focuses on the following areas:

  • characterization and improvement of processes applied in environmental technologies;
  • investigating drinking water treatment technologies;
  • investigating wastewater treatment technologies;
  • environmental risk monitoring and assessment;
  • characterization of physico-chemical processes in aquatic ecosystems and remediation;

Cooperation with foreign experts and institutions and international organizations is achieved through joint projects with UNEP, Swiss Organization for Development and Cooperation (SDC, Belgrade), Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), Wageningen University (Netherlands), CUTEC Institute (Clausthal, Germany) ), Fraunhofer Institute for Technology Development (Stuttgart, Germany), Italian National Agency for New Technologies (ENEA), DHV (Netherlands), University of Oxford (UK), University of Aberdeen (UK), Institute for Energy and Process Engineering Environmental Protection / Water Technology from the University of Duisburg-Essen (Suisburg, Germany), Helmholz Center for Environmental Protection (Leipzig, Germany), University of Szeged and University of Baia (Hungary), International Water Association (IWA).

To date, members of the Chemical Technology and Environmental Protection Groups have participated in the implementation of more than 50 national and international scientific projects, and have also realized over 200 projects for the needs of industry.
