From its foundation, the Chair of Physical Chemistry gathers together teachers and associates engaged in teaching the courses in physical chemistry group of subjects, both at undergraduate and graduate (master and doctoral) levels.

The scientific research has been pursued in several directions, of which some are also actual today, viz: application of spectroscopic methods in fundamental research, thermodynamics of intermolecular interactions, photochemistry, coordination electrochemistry, and single crystal X-ray crystallography. Besides, in the recent years, the members of the Chair have been successfully engaged in the research related to the application of physico-chemicalphenomena and methods in the area of environmental protection.

The teachers and associates of the Chair, in addition to the regular teaching activities, have been constantly engaged in the advancement of the teaching process. Thus, the current curriculum has been brought in accordance with the Bologna Declaration, the existing syllabuses were innovated, and some new courses and new teaching contents were introduced in order to offer the students modern fundamentals in the field of Physical Chemistry.
